A new scheduling mechanism to provide relative differentiation for real-time IP traffic

چکیده

In this paper, design alternatives for supporting realtime traffic in a differentiated services IP network node are studied. A scheduling algorithm called weighted earliest due date (WEDD) is proposed that provides tunable delay differentiation for applications like video or voice over IP. WEDD enhances the earliest due date (EDD) scheduling mechanism in such a way that not only different delay bounds but also different deadline violation probabilities are provided. The ratios of violation probabilities in different classes are easily specified by a set of parameters. Simulation studies are performed to show that the scheduler is able to maintain the specified ratios under various traffic conditions in short as well as in long time scales.

A Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...

Scheduling Time-Sensitive IP Traffic

This article presents an hybrid priority queuing model based scheduler for real-time traffic differentiation. The proposed scheduler is designed as a mechanism to provide queuing delay differentiation among real-time traffic classes. The novel characteristic of the presented scheduler is the capability to simultaneously try to achieve an upper time limit for queuing delays and, under heavy load...

ارزیابی سیاست‌های زمان‌بندی در نسل چهارم شبکه‌های سلولی (LTE)

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...

Proportional Delay Differentiation Employing the CBQ Service Discipline

The DiffServ architecture provides a scalable mechanism for QoS introduction in a TCP/IP network. The idea of DiffServ is based on the aggregation of traffic flows at an ingress (or egress) point of a network and the IP packet marking for different priority flows, according to several classification criteria. Two approaches exist in the DiffServ architecture: the absolute and the relative. In a...

Performance Simulation and Analysis for LTESystem Using Human Behavior Queue Model

Understanding the nature of traffic has been a key concern of the researchers particularly over the last two decades and it has been noticed through extensive high quality studies that traffic found in different kinds of IP/wireless IP networks is human operators . Despite the recent findings of real time human behavior in measured traffic from data networks, much of the current understanding o...
